Our Sixth Form Centre primarily caters for those young people who are generally
operating at Entry Level 2 or below at the end of Phase 4; or those young people
who are not yet ready to make the move to external college provision.
The curriculum at Post 16 focuses on four key areas of development:
- Life Skills
- English & Maths
- Vocational Skills
- Personal and Social Development
There is a flexible approach to how long learners can stay within the Sixth Form; either
one, two or three years, and this is totally dependent on individual needs and the
progress they make within this time.
Whilst the curriculum for each learner is bespoke for them, all learners are encouraged
to undertake the Duke of Edinburgh Award at the appropriate level.
Residential opportunities are an integral part of the Sixth Form offer as many of the
learning opportunities and experiences are consolidated on these trips.
Travel Training is a high priority within Phase 5 to prepare learners for when they leave
school and move into adulthood.
Phase five learners take a great deal of pride in being considered a distinct “team”
within the wider community of Westcroft and this exemplified within their everyday
practices of school life
